Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in calcium homeostasis and bone metabolism.
There are 2 commonly available forms of vitamin D:
- Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol)
- Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol).
Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is a supplement that helps your body absorb calcium. It is more potent and bioavailable compared to Vitamin D2. Vitamin D3 appreciated as nature’s antibiotic and comes from a natural source.
Vitamin D deficiency is associated with many life long diseases and is usually treated with oral vitamin D. In some observational studies, lower vitamin D levels have been associated with risk for fractures, falls, functional limitations, some types of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, and death.
Nat D® contains Cholecalciferol 1000 IU equivalent to Vitamin D3 25 mcg.
Nat D® has a high strength of Vitamin D3 (1,000 IU) that is needed to maintain a healthy 25OHD level at least 78nmol/L (30mg/mL).
Nat D® is available in white round bottle of 60 tablets and classified as an Over-the-Counter (OTC) drug.
